Summoner job receives two sets of six pieces of AF (artifact) armour, including primary weapon, legs, body, feet, head and hands. The first set is worn at level 41-60, and the second set is worn at levels 71-75. This can be confusing as AF2 and AF set 2 are different things as you can see from the table below.

Artifact Set 1

Enmity

Players often get confused about what enmity is and why the Arfifact set 1 has both player and avatar enmity. Basically, enmity is aggro. If the armour is just 'Enmity -(a number)', then that negative enmity gives the summoner less aggro from a monster in battle. However, if the armour is 'Avatar: Enmity (- a number)' then that negative enmity gives the avatar less aggro. Ideally when in a party you want both the summoner and avatar to have less aggro, but when solo you need the aggro on the avatar to be more positive than on the summoner, so the monster does not ignore the avatar and hit on the summoner.

If you are still confused, then just remember, mages and avatars need negative enmity (-), except when soloing, then avatars do not need any negative enmity.

At present only the information for AF set one quests are available as follows as taken from Allakhazam and Killing Ifrit with corrections and directions. All AF battles allow up to 18 people within an alliance, the key item can be reused and stored regardless of win or lose, only one key item is required for everyone in the party or alliance, and everyone in the party or alliance that is doing the same Summoner quest will receive their AF.

AF Set 1 - AF1 (Kukulcan's Staff)

Go to the House of the Hero in Windurst Walls.

Then go to Port Bastok and talk to Juroro located at I-8. After following the dialogue Juroro hands you a Earth Pendulum and tells you to travel to the Quicksand caves in Altepa Desert.

Within the Quicksand Caves, you will need to make your way to the Cloister of Tremors located at C-8. From the zone line, go into the zone until you see a drop, fall down the left side and continue while hugging the right wall until you see another drop, fall down the right side and continue until you zone into the Cloister of Tremors area, this area has no map or monsters and you will see an Earth Protocrystal.

Trade the Earth Pendulum to the Earth Protocrystal. A short cut scene will take place. After the scene ends you find yourself in the battlefield. You have 30 minutes to kill the NM Galgalim that spawns at the top of the ramp (a party of levels 40+ is fine).

After you kill the NM return to Bastok and talk to Juroro.

Return to Windurst Walls and talk to Kuro-Muro located at E-7.

AF Set 1 - AF2 (Evoker's Spats)

Go to the House of the Hero in Windurst Walls and obtain Carbuncle's Tear.

Talk to Kuro Muro in Windurst Walls at E-7, he asks you to bring him 4 Astralagos. These can be bought from the Auction House under Weapons/Ammo/Ammunition.

Talk to Freppe located in the Windurst Waters Aurastory at L-6.

Talk to Furakku-Norakku at the Windurst Waters Optistery at G-8.

Talk to Shantoto at his home in Windurst Walls located at K-7. He mentions that Sunny-Pabony left for San d'Oria and to seek him out there.

Travel to San d'Oria and talk to Gulmama a tarutaru located at E-7 in North San d'Oria. Here you will recieve an Ice Pendulum. Make your way to Fei`Yin and find the Ice Cloister at G-9. Trade your Ice Pendulum to the Protocrystal and enter the battlefield after a short cutscene. Here you will engage in 6 sapling type monsters. I had a full party of lvl 52-60 and we did not need sleep as each sappling was dead within 10 seconds, but if your party is all level 48-52 you will need sleep.

After you kill the 6 sapling type mobs, another cutscene will take place. Return to Windurst Walls and talk to kuro-Muro located at E-7.

AF Set 1 - AF3 (Evoker's Bracers)

In order to do this "quest" you must have (otherwise you will only get a map from the coffer):

- completed the Summoner AF1-1 (Staff)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-2 (Spats)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-4 with Guslam (Armor Shop in Upper Jeuno)

Somewhere in the Sea Serpent Grotto lies a Treasure Coffer containing your AF hands, the Evoker's Bracers (Old Arm Guard). You will need a Grotto Coffer Key to open the Treasure Coffer. WARNING: If you do not have Summoner as your main job you will NOT get your 'some old gauntlets' key item.

Dropped off Mobs:

Firstly you will need a 'Mythril Beastcoin', don't go without it or you won't be able to access the area you need behind a locked door. Go to (H-11) in 'Sea Serpent Grotto' and keep clicking the door until it lets you trade the 'Mythril Beastcoin' to open it. Only inside this area will you find the coffer key dropping monsters and Treasure Coffers. Monsters con 'Decent Challenge' - 'Very Tough' at level 54 in this area.

Check the Links section for the treasure hunting maps. Or click here.

After you received the old gauntlets, return to Guslam (Upper Jeuno Armor Shop) who says the gauntlets are work of Borghertz. But he cannot repair them.

You then have to go speak to “Yin Pocanakhu” in the Tenshodo shop in Lower Jeuno (through the locked door) who talks about a toolbox that won't open. You have to pay her 1000gil to tell you where the toolbox is at (She takes this automatically out of your inv, you do no have to trade it to her).

Once you pay her, she then tells you she left the toolbox on top of a crate outside of the Duty-Free shop in Port Jeuno and that you can have it.

When you examine the ??? outside of the Duty-Free shop in Port Jeuno, a cut scene happens and Borghertz says Very well. Bring some 'shadow flames' from Castle Zvahl. Leave it and those gauntlets inside my toolbox, and I shall restore the gauntlets.

Now you need go to Castle Zvahl Baileys and examine the torch at F-8. A NM bomb by name of 'Dark Spark' will appear. Kill it and examine the torch a second time to get the key item 'Shadow Flames'.

After you received the flame return to Jeuno and re-examine the ??? outside of the Duty-Free shop to get your reward.

AF Set 1 - AF4 (Evoker's Pigaches)

In order to do this "quest" you must have (otherwise you will only get a map from the coffer):

- completed the Summoner AF1-1 (Staff)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-2 (Spats)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-4 with Guslam (Armor Shop in Upper Jeuno)

Somewhere in the Toraimarai Canal lies a Treasure Coffer containing your AF boots, the Evoker's Pigaches. You will need a Toraimarai Coffer Key to open the Treasure Coffer. WARNING: If you do not have Summoner as your main job you will NOT get your AF piece.

Dropped off Mobs :

Check the Links section for the treasure hunting maps.

AF Set 1 - AF5 (Evoker's Doublet)

In order to do this "quest" you must have (otherwise you will only get a map from the coffer):

- completed the Summoner AF1-1 (Staff)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-2 (Spats)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-4 with Guslam (Armor Shop in Upper Jeuno)

Somewhere in the Temple of Uggalepih lies a Treasure Coffer containing your AF body, the Evoker's Doublet. You will need an Uggalepih Coffer Key to open the Treasure Coffer. WARNING: If you do not have Summoner as your main job you will NOT get your AF piece.

For key :

OK, head to the outpost in Yhoator Jungle, then go Southeast to the Temple of Uggalepih, you go up the stairs then head down the tunnel near a tree poking up from the floor. Once in the temple, invis and hug the left wall, you will have to drop invis to open a door, continue hugging the left wall until you zone back out into the jungle. Now hug the right wall until you zone back into the temple, go down the stairs and pull to here.

Dropped off Mobs:

*Note* All weak to ice.

For Coffer box:

Go back to the main zone in from the jungle, this time you need to invis and hug the right wall instead of the left one, keep following the right wall until you zone. Now hug left until you zone back into the temple. Go right and down the stairs to the big wooden gate and go through (you may need to kill the monsters near the door). Now use this Speak Easy map to locate the coffers, or look up 'Treasure Maps' on the Links section.

Note, these coffers are hard to access; E-7 and E-8 coffers are behind a locked door that you need a key to open, after opening one of the keys is lost.

Also I-10 and J-11 are through a door that is sometimes guarded by a Temple Guardian, which is really hard to kill unless you have a strong party.

Your doublet will be inside the coffer, no npcs are required.

AF Set 1 - AF6 (Evoker's Horn)

In order to do this "quest" you must have:

- completed the Summoner AF1-1 (Staff)
- activated or completed Summoner AF1-2 (Spats)

*Top tip* An alliance is possibile and you will need Echo Drops for the Manticore battle.

Artifact Alternatives

There are many alternatives to the Artifact armor, especially weapons and equipment with hidden summoner abilities. What you select to wear is entirely up to you, I will not say which is a better equipment because it is individual to how the Summoner plays.

Austere Armor

One of the alternatives is Austere Armor (JSE, Job Specific Armor), this is player crafted by leather synthesise and the skill cap is unknown at the moment due to its resent introduction to the game. The price for this armor is unstable, but on Alex server the hats are around 50k and the body is about 300k, with no sales yet on the other pieces.

Notice this armor is tradable and you can hold more than one of each piece should you wish.

Penance Armor

Penance armor is the exceptional craft synthesise of Austere armor which is also JSE, Job Specific Armor. It basically alters all stats by 1, with a few exceptions. I will post the exact stats in the next update.

Elemental Staffs

For each avatar element, there is a corresponding elemental staff, for example; Fire Staff for Ifrit, Wind Staff for Garuda, and Thunder Staff for Ramuh etc. Also, for each elemental staff there is a +1 upgrade.

As well as the listed staff's statistics, there are also some hidden attributes. The only confirmed hidden attribute is the -2 perpetuation cost for regular staffs and -3 perpetuation cost for +1 staffs. Although you can speculate other hidden attributes such as extra damage for the corresponding avatar, better success rate for the corresponding synthesis, better melee on the corresponding elemental day, non of this has yet been proven, due to irregular outcomes.
