The job Summoner is an advance class; therefore you are required to have a previous job at level thirty or above to give access to the quest.

The first thing you need is your Carbuncle's ruby, you do not need to speak to any NPC's or initiate the quest at this stage.

Carbuncle's Ruby

The ruby is thought to dropped off any leech mob, although the drop is more common on certain leeches in the list below. You cannot use a thief's treasure hunting skill, as the ruby is Rare EX.

Zones that have good ruby drop rates:

I would advise that you only hunt Carbuncle Rubies in Buburimu Peninsula, as the drop rate here is very high. I camped Qufim leeches for four hours before a ruby dropped, yet in Buburimu Peninsula a ruby dropped within five minutes.

Initiating the Quest

OK great you have a Crabuncle Ruby, now go to G-3 Windurst Walls to 'House of the Hero' and click on the door (the door is the start NPC for this quest) and a cutscene will take place. Ajido-Marujido tells you that you need to collect the seven weather conditions. You collect the weather conditions by zoning into a zone with weather, if you successfully collect a weather condition a cutscene will take place as soon as you zone into the zone.

Collecting Weather Conditions

Zone into a zone and look to the top right of your compass, you will either see nothing (normal weather) or a weather icon, if you are already in a zone when the weather condition starts, you must rezone to capture the weather.

The following zones are the best zones for the weather conditions, although they do appear in other zones, but they are rarer. They can be collected in any order, but the red and Indigo weathers are generally the most difficult.

* Top Tip* You can stay on a Chocobo and collect weather.

*Note* You can only get fire in a zone if the previous three days weather is fine or better!

If you want to see a full list of all the zones check Sheila Khosla's Summoner guide. The information regarding collecting thunder in qufim is wrong though, it does thunder in qufim you cannot collect it for this quest in Qufim.

You can use the weather reports in each city to get an idea of the next three days weather conditions in various zones within that region.

Becoming a Summoner

Wonderful! now you have all seven weather conditions and your ruby, so you are ready to become a Summoner and obtain your Carbuncle. Do not return to Windurst Walls, instead goto G-6 in La Thiene Plateau and you will see a ??? in a stone circle. Trade your Carbuncle Ruby to the ???, enjoy the cutscene and go change your job to a summoner at your mogle house.
